Vikartindur

In 1997 the 9,300 dwt container vessel Vikartindur beached and broke on the remote south coast of Iceland. With the vessel heeled nearly 45 degrees to sea Pfitzco, Inc. worked in conjunction with Titan Maritime to design a means to modify the ship's two onboard cranes, bringing them back to vertical and there by able to function for off loading operations. Pfitzco, Inc. then provided engineering expertise during the wreck dismantling stage again using the onboard cranes to dismantle the vessel systematically until only the cranes themselves remained, which were then lowered and removed by truck..
