OSG Double Hull
The double hull conversion used OSG’s patented process to convert a single hull tank barge to a double hull one. The basic process consisted of cutting out the main deck, transverse and centerline bulkheads and raising these to create a new trunk. A new inner bottom and wing bulkheads were installed as well as new lower sections of the transverse and centerline bulkheads. The drawing shown will give a general idea of the scope of work for this project. In the following isometric the new material is shown on red and the existing is shown in blue. An inert gas system was also installed during the conversion. This system used existing vapor recovery piping as a header and branched off of it. An owner furnished Air Products inert gas generator was installed along with the associated seawater supply and discharge piping.
